The System Restore tool has been part of Microsoft operating systems since Windows XP but few people know what it does. The tool can fix PC errors by replacing system files with a snapshot from a previous date. These snapshots are saved as you work on the PC (i.e. as new applications are installed, Windows Update is run).

The snapshots only make copies of, and attempt to restore, the Windows registry, some OS programs and some third party tools. The ‘My Documents’ folder is not part of the snapshot so these files will remain intact (this makes it a good spot to save files if you are concerned they be rolled back with the snapshot).

The tool can however impact program customizations made since the snapshot if the registry settings and program files are out of sync. For this reason, it should only be used as a last resort after other avenues (virus scans, application removals) have been attempted.

Run the program as follows:

1. Go to Start > Search and enter System Restore. XP owners can locate the tool under Accessories > System Tools.
2. Choose to ‘Restore the computer to an earlier time’. Select Next.
3. Pick a date on the calendar, ideally a recent one from before the registry problem appeared. Select Next.
4. The PC will reboot with the system changes restored.

It is safer to fix registry problem by uninstalling faulty programs or using anti-virus software to detect and correct. However, the Window restore tool is ideal in emergency situations, for at least making a PC workable again.

A device commonly known as the Digital Video Interface, or DVI, has done a commendable job of linking up the gaps that exist between the two signals. The Digital Video Interface features three formats for video transmission, DVI-A for analog, DVI-D for digital, and DVI-I for integrated. The first two formats obviously refer to their signal’s function, while the third integrates both analog and digital. The third option provides great flexibility because it fills the gap sufficiently between the two mediums and doesn’t require additional costs for upgraded equipment.

Users of multiple screens need to be able to alter the signal so that the output displays mirror images onto both of them. In order to split the signal properly, make sure to use the correct type of cable. For a DVI to VGA adapter, make sure that both cable and output are analog-capable. This gives a user the option of choosing DVI-A or DVI-I when splitting.

The optimum method for splitting a signal is not with a DVI splitter cable at all. It’s best to use a DVI converter. I recommend that you take the easy route and use a power device that is specially designed for signal conversion on multiple screens. This not only ensures that the right signal is displayed; it also helps amplify the signal whenever necessary.

Finally, should you choose to use a DVI splitter cable, make sure that you’ve read all the manufacturer’s recommendations and requirements, and make certain that you meet the cable specifications.

Whether you are downloading a popular video game demo or enjoying one of the many free programs available for transfer on the internet, be aware that some of these programs may pose a threat to your computer with the spyware and adware that may be secretly included with them. Some of the biggest spyware and adware threats include:

• Common programs that may contain such unwanted sub-programs include a great deal of toolbars. More often than not, the downloaded toolbar will have very little practical application in your day-to-day internet usage, and in fact can be home to a multitude of unwelcome programs.

• More often than not, the programs and video games that are featured illicit or quasi-legal websites will house undesirable spyware programs that can significantly hinder your machine’s process. Music downloading and file sharing sites are one of the biggest sources of avoidable spyware.
• Adult websites, especially those usually advertised in pop-up advertisements, are another common place where one can expect to find a large amount of adware that may latch onto your operating system.

To eliminate spyware and adware infecting your computer, you need to uninstall the suspicious program, game, or toolbar, and run a reputable anti-malware program. From now on, be sure to keep your computer clean and malware-free – just as people are happier in an organized home, so too will they find more satisfaction in using a well-organized, clean and fast-running computer without having to worry about the privacy and confidentiality of your actions.  With these tips, you will be able to keep your computer safe from unwanted spyware and adware threats.

It does seem more likely that what they will release will be an iPad mini. This is because it will allow apple to get a much larger slice of the very lucrative e-book reader market. Currently dominated by the Amazon Kindle, a smaller iPad will be much more preferable for those who want to read books on the tablet. Owners of the current iPad state that it is simply a little too large to comfortably read books on and when questioned said that a seven inch display would be much more preferable.

This is apart from the fact that a smaller model is going to be a lot cheaper to buy so apple will be able to corner more of the tablet market as a whole. But as no one knows for sure just what they will release it is a waiting game to see just what they finally release and what the difference will be to the current iPad that is still selling at an amazing rate and has the largest corner of the whole net book market as a whole. I for one would like to see a smaller model released as it will be much more affordable to buy.

The Good
It is very light, weighing only 1.45kg and is designed based on the traditional Think Pad models. In X300, instead of using traditional hard disk, a solid state hard disk is used to increase the accessing performance and to minimize the faltering effect. This solid state disk also leads to greater battery life.

The Bad
Though it has a lot of advantages, the cost of X300 is quite prohibitive when compared to other models with similar configuration. Due to the usage of static state disk, the storage capacity is unfortunately limited to 64 GB.
