Many problems due to virus corruption and application faults can be traced back to the Windows registry. While it is widely regarded as prudent to not manually edit this file, you can still fix registry problem by undoing changes. This article looks at Windows main utility for doing this.

The System Restore tool has been part of Microsoft operating systems since Windows XP but few people know what it does. The tool can fix PC errors by replacing system files with a snapshot from a previous date. These snapshots are saved as you work on the PC (i.e. as new applications are installed, Windows Update is run).

The snapshots only make copies of, and attempt to restore, the Windows registry, some OS programs and some third party tools. The ‘My Documents’ folder is not part of the snapshot so these files will remain intact (this makes it a good spot to save files if you are concerned they be rolled back with the snapshot).

The tool can however impact program customizations made since the snapshot if the registry settings and program files are out of sync. For this reason, it should only be used as a last resort after other avenues (virus scans, application removals) have been attempted.

Run the program as follows:

Go to Start > Search and enter System Restore. XP owners can locate the tool under Accessories > System Tools.

Choose to ‘Restore the computer to an earlier time’. Select Next.

Pick a date on the calendar, ideally a recent one from before the registry problem appeared. Select Next.

The PC will reboot with the system changes restored.

It is safer to fix registry problem by uninstalling faulty programs or using anti-virus software to detect and correct. However, the Window restore tool is ideal in emergency situations, for at least making a PC workable again.

As an increasing number of companies are promoting all digital screens, the old legacy analog displays are quickly becoming outdated. Despite the transition to a digital media, analog still retains a large share of today’s market. This demonstrates that there are many people who have not made the leap and converted to digital. This has opened up the marketplace to analog conversion tools.

A device commonly known as the Digital Video Interface, or DVI, has done a commendable job of linking up the gaps that exist between the two signals. The Digital Video Interface features three formats for video transmission, DVI-A for analog, DVI-D for digital, and DVI-I for integrated. The first two formats obviously refer to their signal’s function, while the third integrates both analog and digital. The third option provides great flexibility because it fills the gap sufficiently between the two mediums and doesn’t require additional costs for upgraded equipment.

Users of multiple screens need to be able to alter the signal so that the output displays mirror images onto both of them. In order to split the signal properly, make sure to use the correct type of cable. For a DVI to VGA adapter, make sure that both cable and output are analog-capable. This gives a user the option of choosing DVI-A or DVI-I when splitting.

The optimum method for splitting a signal is not with a DVI splitter cable at all. It’s best to use a DVI converter. I recommend that you take the easy route and use a power device that is specially designed for signal conversion on multiple screens. This not only ensures that the right signal is displayed; it also helps amplify the signal whenever necessary.

Finally, should you choose to use a DVI splitter cable, make sure that you’ve read all the manufacturer’s recommendations and requirements, and make certain that you meet the cable specifications.

As the Internet evolves rapidly, many new programs and appliances are coming out, some of which may pose a threat to your computer. Spyware and adware are two common types of sub-programs hidden inside executable files (programs) that are available for download on the internet.

Whether you are downloading a popular video game demo or enjoying one of the many free programs available for transfer on the internet, be aware that some of these programs may pose a threat to your computer with the spyware and adware that may be secretly included with them. Some of the biggest spyware and adware threats include:

Common programs that may contain such unwanted sub-programs include a great deal of toolbars. More often than not, the downloaded toolbar will have very little practical application in your day-to-day internet usage, and in fact can be home to a multitude of unwelcome programs.

Almost all toolbars that are available for Internet Explorer are loaded with hidden adware and spyware. Avoiding downloading Internet Explorer toolbars, such as the Ask.com toolbar, or even the Yahoo! one, can significantly reduce your chances of bringing in unwanted programs and processes into your computer.

Many different kinds of freeware, such as video games, can have adware hidden deep within. Fortunately, a great deal of these programs will be obvious thanks to several clues that the computer user can pick up on. Downloading video games or programs from shady websites, ones that showcase poor maintenance and high visiting activity, should be avoided at all costs.

More often than not, the programs and video games that are featured illicit or quasi-legal websites will house undesirable spyware programs that can significantly hinder your machine’s process. Music downloading and file sharing sites are one of the biggest sources of avoidable spyware.

Adult websites, especially those usually advertised in pop-up advertisements, are another common place where one can expect to find a large amount of adware that may latch onto your operating system.

To eliminate spyware and adware infecting your computer, you need to uninstall the suspicious program, game, or toolbar, and run a reputable anti-malware program. From now on, be sure to keep your computer clean and malware-free – just as people are happier in an organized home, so too will they find more satisfaction in using a well-organized, clean and fast-running computer without having to worry about the privacy and confidentiality of your actions. With these tips, you will be able to keep your computer safe from unwanted spyware and adware threats.

To start, you should find a service that best meets your needs. There are many providers to pick from and these also have several different plans within them which vary depending on how much faxing you do per month.

In all, email faxing is incredible. Not only does it save you money compared to using a fax machine, but it also gives you tons of features and benefits that a fax machine could never do for you, you can even fax using cell phone. To get started you don’t need much, just a computer and internet connection. This means that if you do not have a phone line you can still use internet faxing.

Laptops are great tools. They are mobile and light weight and you can bring them just about anywhere but when you pack all of that power into such a little device the power supply will drain really quickly. Most laptops will come with about two to four hours of battery life by default and that’s only if you run the laptop on low settings in power saver mode. If you want to play all of your favorite games or watch high definition movies on your laptop without having to plug it in you should get an external laptop battery.

An external laptop battery works kind of like a generator. It can be as big as you want it to be and will provide a ton of battery life. They are really easy to use too. All you have to do is plug your power chord into the external laptop battery and it will automatically add battery life to your laptop. They’ll even recharge your internal batteries for you.

When you’re out blogging at a café or driving around the city watching a movie it can be a pain when your laptop runs out of battery life. Laptops don’t usually come with the necessary power supplies to support extended periods of use without being plugged in. Often it is necessary to plug your laptop in for a little while to recharge the batteries and then you can unplug it again.

If you use an external laptop battery you can recharge your laptop’s power supply from anywhere with no electrical outlet required. You can choose to use the external laptop battery as the main power supply but if you don’t want to have a big bulky battery hanging off the edge of your laptop you can simply recharge and disconnect. It’s really that simple. Plug your laptop’s power chord into the external laptop battery, wait a few minutes while it recharges your own batteries, and then unplug it to continue using your laptop tether free. To get more information on computer hardware go to the printer scanner copier and fax machine website.

Besides from making frequent hard drive data backup, there are a few tips that can prevent you from backing up your hard drive in the first place. I’m not here to say that backing up your computer is not an essential task but it’s very time consuming to complete these backup if you have a large database on your hard drive. Some of the tips I’ll share with you to keep your computer running as smooth as possible will save you a lot of money in the long run. So let’s get to it!

First off, always install an good Antivirus protection software on your computer. This would act like your first line of defense to virus attack that can potentially wipe out your hard drive. Windows is the most favorite operating system for hackers to build viruses for because of all the loopholes that they can sneak spywares into your computer. I recommend not have only one antivirus program but two to better guard your system.

Second tip is to limit yourself to browsing websites that have the potential to install these malicious viruses and spywares on your computer. If you already have install an Antivirus software on your computer, most of these programs have alert messages that will pop-up on your screen if you just so happen to land on a site that has a spyware installer. Sites that typically have these viruses and spywares are adult sites, warez and some forums.

Third and last tip would be to always keep your computer up to par. What I mean by this is to always complete your basic computer maintenance like DISK CLEANUP and DEFRAG. This helps your computer to run smoothly and you will notice a lot from just these simple maintenance run. If you see that your hard drive is extreme full and you haven’t downloaded any softwares, its could possible be the extra spyware that are installed in your computer. If you notice this, I would immediately run your antivirus program to detect and kill that spyware.

Protecting your computer from malicious program isn’t to bad but when you don’t do these simple task that is when you will get infected. It’s not cheap to pay for data recoveries and most data recovery specialists charges upto $25 an hour for their services. If you like to learn more about protecting your computer and data recoveries, check out my site at LowCostDataRecovery.com.

Despite recommendations and warnings that you have heard over the years, you never got around to performing any regular backups of your hard drive and now it has gone bed. In this case, you really only have two options on how to proceed; you could purchase hard drive crash recovery software or you could fire a data recovery service. How you proceed really depends on your personal situation and the importance of the data that you may have just permanently lost. Here are some things to consider.

If the hard drive that has failed was in your gaming computer, you might elect to skip the recovery process altogether, buy a new hard drive, reinstall operating system, and reinstall all your games. If on the other hand, you work from home and the hard drive that failed was your primary drive on your main work computer, this is a very different situation. The potential data loss could represent lost business contacts and customer records which would result in lost revenue.

Now it is time to make a business decision. You have several options in front of you. You can attempt to recover the data yourself using either free hard drive crash recovery software or premium paid versions. If you are successful, then great, you accomplished your goal of recovering lost data with a minimal monetary invest. However, there is an industry saying that goes “data is best recovered on the first attempt.” What this means is that any recovery attempts that aren’t successful will make future recovery efforts that much harder.

Another option is use a data recovery service to recover your data for you. Reputable disaster recovery providers have the experience, sophisticated software tools, and equipment which are needed to properly handle your drive. If the data on your drive is critical to the operation of your home business, then expense of service is a necessary expense and a prudent investment.

Learning how to reboot your computer isn’t terribly tough, but it can be very frustrating to sit there with a computer that is frozen and non-operational. The worst part is you can’t search Google for terms like “reboot computer” or “how reboot computer” to actually find out how to fix the problem. Hopefully you’re reading this article before you actually have the need to know how to reboot your computer. If the computer is completely non-responsive the best solution is to find the power button which is usually located on the front of the computer and hold it in for 8-10 seconds. The computer will power off and you can press the power button once again to turn the computer back on. It might start a scan of the hard drive to make sure there isn’t anything wrong with it. This is typical and you should let the computer finish the scan.

You might also have the problem on a rebooting computer where the computer just reboots over and over again. One of the possible solutions to this problem is a little more in depth so if you aren’t comfortable with it then you might want to take the computer to a local repair shop. You want to start with the computer off and then press the power button to turn it on. Begin tapping the F8 key until you see a black screen with some options presented in white text. Choose the Safe Mode option and hit enter. Hopefully this will load into a very odd looking version of Windows, but it should stop the constant rebooting. Not you can do a system restore back a few days. It take a while to finish this process, but once it’s done the computer should restart and then load into Windows as it did before. If you’re lucky and everything went right your computer should be back to normal.

There are only a few things that could solve computer rebooting problems and there are a lot more things you could try, but they are beyond the scope of this article. Remember to take your time and do some research. If you are even worried or unsure then it’s best to take your computer to a local expert and have him fix it.

When you lose data on your USB drives, it can seem like the end of the world. If you need to recover the files immediately, then there aren’t too many options for you, unless you had a backup. But, if the files are important but you don’t have an urgent need for them, then there are a few different USB data recovery options available for you. I will go through those different options for you to help you to determine which may be the best route for you.

Data Recovery Software

One of your first options will be to look online for some USB data recovery software. This software can scan your USB drive and see what files it is able to possibly cover. This kind of software is usually not free, but the companies will usually let you scan your USB drive for free to see if the program will work for you, and then once you have made that determination, then you have to buy the program to actually recover the files. the good thing about these programs is that they will look like your operating system, so if you use Windows, the software interface will be familiar to you and it will be easy to navigate.

Data Recovery Services

Sometimes USB recovery software just won’t cut it but another option would be to use USB data recovery services. These services are companies that specialize in recovering your data. The workers are trained iun many recovery methods, and they have high-powered commercial software, as well as dedicated computers that are more powerful that the desktop software you can download for your own computer. These companies will usually only charge you if they can actually recover your lost or damaged files.

Now that you know the various options available to you, you don’t have to freak out when your USB drive does become damaged or corrupt because you know you’ll probably be able to get your data back.
